Prof. Wumi Iledare

Wumi Iledare is a globally respected petroleum economist, energy policy expert, and thought leader with over four decades of distinguished experience in the petroleum and energy sectors. He is Professor Emeritus of Petroleum Economics at Louisiana State University and has built an outstanding career at the intersection of academia, industry, public policy, and institutional leadership.

Professor Iledare served as the 2014 President of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) and is a Past President of the United States Association for Energy Economics (USAEE). He is also a Past President and Fellow of the Nigerian Association for Energy Economics (NAEE). From 2019 to 2021, he served as Africa Region Director of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), representing the interests of the Society across the African continent and advancing professional excellence, technical collaboration, and leadership development within the global energy industry.

His areas of expertise include petroleum economics, petroleum fiscal systems, hydrocarbon asset valuation, natural gas commercialization, energy governance, investment decision analytics, and energy transition. Throughout his career, he has advised governments, regulatory agencies, international organizations, and private-sector institutions on energy policy reform, resource governance, and sustainable energy development.

Professor Iledare serves as the Principal Facilitator of the Petroleum and Energy Economics Programme at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE) Energy Business School and is the Executive Director of the Emmanuel Egbogah Foundation. Through teaching, research, publications, and policy engagement, he continues to mentor the next generation of energy professionals while promoting evidence-based policymaking.
